This week’s list involves listing those things that you treasure the most and to actively surround yourself with those things you love the most. For the most part, the things I treasure the most are with me at all times or on prominent display, so I guess I am ahead of the game there.

1. The Wonder Twins and Professor Snape (otherwise known as my family)
2. Jockey (my dog)
3. The pink guitar signed by Nancy Wilson of Heart
4. The photo of me and the Wilson sisters
5. The signed tennis ball given to me by Ivan Lendl
6. The letter my father wrote me in 1988 that we didn’t find until after he died.
7. My parents’ wedding rings
8. The present my mother gave me for my college graduation.
9. The books that I have written or contributed to.
10. My Saint Mary-of-the-Woods ring, which was touched by Pope Benedict XVI.

I have been told that everyone really appreciates them so I will keep doing that. Spread positive thoughts, not negative energy!

Fabulous Fridays: #52Lists Project

    This week’s list asks: What will your life look like in 10 years?

In 10 years, I will be the same that my father was when he died, so I guess the first thing I hope my life looks like in 10 years is that I will still be here in 11 years! I also hope that my house is paid off and that I am able to relax a little about day-to-day finances. I am about 1/2 way to my goal of having the house paid for, which is a plus so I think 10 years sounds like a reasonable goal.

I hope that in 10 years time, both of my sons will be on their own, happy, healthy and starting families with the women they love. I am guessing that in 10 years time, at least one version of Julie Young Offspring 2.0 will be here (also known as grandchildren) and I hope that I am able to be a huge part of that individual’s life.

I hope I am able to travel more and work a “little” less, write more book, and feel secure that I am still making a serious financial contribution around here. I would also like to have earned or be on my way toward earning my Ph.D. in English or Creative Writing. (My first choice school for that is Notre Dame.)

It’s really hard to imagine what 10 years will bring, especially when you think about how much everything has changed in the past 10 years…but I guess those are good goals for now.

     This week’s list was particularly hard. I was supposed to list the soundtrack to my life, but to be honest…a lot of the songs I listen to are the same songs I listened to a year ago, five years ago and so on…I found myself actually writing down a lot of albums and then realized what they were really asking…so here goes…keep in mind there will be a lot of songs by the same artist because if that’s the album I’m into at the moment…it tends to dominate my playlist.

Hey Everyone!

This week’s list tells us to list the happiest moments of our lives. According to the author, “sometimes it’s easy to forget all of the wonderful things that have happened in our lives.” This list is a good way to remind us that we really have had a wonderful life! (BTW: This list is not in any particular order…as you will see, I have had some pretty awesome experiences so it’s impossible to put it in any kind of numerical order.)

3. When I saw them both and got to personally tell them how much they meant to me. (I also got to give Nancy a copy of my first book since she is mentioned in the acknowledgements. LOL)

I’d never really thought about it before until now because they sort of seem like a diverse group in my head. Still, when it comes right down to it all of them (except for maybe Fudge) are more than what they appear to be. At first glance, they seem stereotypical, but when you really get to know the characters, they are a lot deeper, stronger, and opinionated when you first meet them. They may be debutantes, superficial or classic tomboys, but there is always more to them than meets the eye and there is a part of me that has something in common with each one of them.

Hey All!

I have decided to be part of this #52listproject for 2016 and I have decided to share my lists with all of you! I usually never get overly personal on my blog, but what the heck? It’s a new year so why not go for it and give you the inside track to my mind? (You may be sorry you entered! LOL) So here is the first list for winter: List all of your goals and dreams for the new year:

• Lose 10 pounds
• Study for the GRE test
• Take the GRE test
• Keep up with the housekeeping more regularly
• Begin project that will serve as an outline for my new book.
• Donate items on a monthly basis to the food pantry
• Save money
• Make regular donations to the NJTL
• Eat healthier
• Eat out no more than once a week
• Write new history book with Vincent

Take action: What is the first step toward achieving your biggest goal?

I like to think of all of my goals as important, but I have been exercising, cooking dinner rather than going out and have been studying for the GRE test. I also bought items for the food pantry while I was at the grocery store. So…I’m well on my way! Feel free to make your own list and share it with me!
